Gentle Cleansing Meets Versatility: Introducing CDEA (Cocoamidopropyl Betaine 35 CDEA)

Cocoamide propyl betaine, also known as coconut betaine (CAPB), is a derivative of coconut oil and a zwitterionic surfactant widely used in the production of cosmetics. It is generally a colorless or light yellow transparent viscous liquid, made from coconut oil as raw material, which is condensed with N, N-dimethyl-propane diamine to form PKO, and then quaternized with sodium chloroacetate (obtained from chloroacetic acid and sodium carbonate) in two steps, with a yield of about 90%.

The main characteristics of cocoamidopropyl betaine

Stability: It has excellent stability under acidic and alkaline conditions, exhibiting both cationic and anionic properties, respectively.

Compatibility: Often used in combination with anionic, cationic, and nonionic surfactants, it has good compatibility.

Solubility: Easily soluble in water.

Irritation: No irritation to the skin or ocular mucosa, no allergic reactions (however, it should be noted that there are a small number of reports related to allergic reactions, which may be related to the production of amide amines and dimethyl by-products).

Foam property: foam is rich, delicate and stable.

Cleaning power: Strong cleaning power.

Thickening: It has a significant thickening effect.

Other properties: It has excellent flexibility, sterilization, antistatic, hard water resistance, and good biodegradability.

The use of cocoamidopropyl betaine

Daily chemical products: coconut amido propyl betaine is widely used in daily chemical products and is the main component for preparing mild baby shampoo, baby foam baths and baby skin care products. Due to its excellent soft conditioning properties, it is also commonly used in the preparation of shampoo, shower gel, facial cleanser, etc., which can enhance the softness of hair and skin. In addition, it is also used as a detergent, wetting agent, thickener, antistatic agent, and fungicide.

Oilfield exploitation: Cocoamidopropyl betaine is also an important application in oilfield exploitation, mainly used as a viscosity reducer, oil displacement agent and foam agent, making full use of its surface activity to soak, penetrate and strip the crude oil in the oil-bearing mud, and improve the third recovery factor.

Other aspects: Cocoamide propyl betaine also has moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and repairing effects on damaged skin and can be used to improve skin dryness, peeling, and other conditions. At the same time, it can also promote skin metabolism and help improve skin dullness. However, it should be noted that these effects need to be used under the guidance of a doctor, and people who are allergic to cocoamidopropyl betaine should be prohibited from using them.
